With my interest in CY Twombly’s painting and scripting through poetry. I would like to further look at things he created in another form. The portfolio of “Natural History, Part I, Mushrooms” is a set of prints with mixed media techniques of colour lithography, grano lithography, collotype and photochrome with collage and drawing.

This portfolio is so different from his painting, for the materials used. Especially I can see some more urban language in the object, the print, there are photos, text from digital print, meanwhile there are some printed from lithographs as well. When those elements were put together, it feels like we are looking in Twombly’s thoughts freely. Those fragments are somehow slightly processed, edited, and positioned in a certain way. The position of each piece of information is linking with each other, mapping out the understanding and thoughts in a visual format.

What impact did it have on my creation?

I found a way of showing things in a more diverse way.

I think about the form of collage, and what image to me. Those compositions also bring me to think about how other objects in daily life help me to speak or work together with the language from paint.

In other words, I also appreciate how the other objects help to inspire myself. As there is limitation on each lagrange of methods. That is not only experimenting how I can use different materials to compose a visual journey I desire to be, but let the materials work with my ideas and thoughts.

Later I started working on some small size zine, also using some printed words from magazines or other materials. I felt it is an interesting process to pick up what interests me through those materials. Making a decision and putting it forth.
